Our aim is to fully engage all parishioners in parish life in accordance with their stewardship of God’s gifts. Holy Name has many active ministries:
Lectors
Lectors are called to proclaim the Word of God at Mass, an honour that carries real responsibility. This is far more than reading aloud: it is proclamation, speaking Scripture aloud on behalf of the Lord to a gathered community. Lectors prepare each reading beforehand in prayer and practice, so that when they stand at the ambo, their voice carries both clarity and conviction. No formal training is required to begin, only a willingness to serve and grow into the role.
Eucharistic Ministry
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion assist the priest in distributing the Eucharist at Mass, serving with reverence and thanksgiving at the heart of our community’s worship. Are you called to serve at the table and share this wonderful Sacrament with your brothers and sisters? Ministers receive a short formation before their first assignment, and many find that the ministry deepens their own devotion even as it draws others closer to the love of God.
Knights of Columbus
The Knights of Columbus is a Catholic men’s fraternal organization, founded by Michael J. McGivney in 1882 at St. Mary’s Parish in New Haven, Connecticut. Our guiding principles of Unity, Charity, and Fraternity live on today through Holy Name’s own Council 7183, supporting Catholic men in their faith, giving generously of time and treasure to those in need, and standing behind brother Knights and their families through basic insurance protection. New members are always welcome.

Catholic Women’s League
The Catholic Women’s League is a national sisterhood of Catholic women, united in faith and called to service. Members study and speak out on the social, political, and moral issues facing Canadians today, while building genuine friendship and mutual support within the parish. Add your voice to a community of women who take both their faith and their neighbours seriously.
Pastoral Care
Pastoral Care is an unconditional, caring response to the spiritual needs of the lonely, the shut-in, the grieving, the imprisoned, the sick, and the dying. Volunteers bring Christ’s healing presence into difficult moments through simple, faithful acts: listening without judgment, praying beside someone, and carrying the Eucharist to those who can no longer come to Mass themselves.
Holy Name Cares
Holy Name Cares is our parish’s outreach to neighbours in need, carried out in the same spirit as the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. Volunteers assemble and deliver food hampers throughout the year, organize Christmas hampers for families facing a harder season, and respond to emergency requests for food relief. Support is offered to individuals and families living within our parish boundaries, as defined by the Diocese of Calgary.
