Women of faith.
Women of service.
At Holy Name, women come together to pray, form friendships and put their faith into practice through service to the parish and the wider community.
Together in faith and friendship.
Holy Name CWL has a place in the life of our parish. Members gather for the memorial Mass and luncheon, organize the Christmas bake sale and support students through the St. Mary's University bursary raffle.
Over time, members come to know one another. They share conversation and friendship, offer encouragement when life is difficult and remember one another in prayer.
Whether you are considering the League for the first time or returning after some years, we invite you to join us. You can participate in ways that suit your interests and the time you have.
Growing together in prayer and in the life of the Church.
Offering our time and care wherever they are needed.
Honouring the dignity of every person, near and far.
The League Prayer
We humbly pray You, Oh God our Father, to bless The Catholic Women's League of Canada. Bless our beloved country, our homes and families.
Send Your Holy Spirit upon us to give light to our minds and strength to our wills that we may know and fulfill Your great law of charity.
Teach us to share with others at home and abroad, the good things You have given us.
This we ask through our Lord Jesus Christ and the intercession of our patroness, Our Lady of Good Counsel. Amen.
The prayer also appears in the Holy Name CWL brochure (PDF).
Ignite Your Passion,
Empower His Mission
Inspired by the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the national theme invites CWL members to let His love guide both words and deeds. Its focus, Blessed are the Poor, reminds us to recognize those in need and to respond with generosity and courage.
Rooted in faith since 1920.
Founded on June 17, 1920, the Catholic Women's League of Canada is recognized by the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops as a lay association of women.
The League calls its members to grow in faith and witness God's love through ministry and service. Together, women serve the Church, Canada and the wider world while advancing the cause of social justice.
The future we envision
An inclusive and engaged community of Catholic women inspired by faith:
- A vital participant in the Church.
- A valued partner for social justice.
- A respected advocate at all government levels.
- Connected to the world.
The League's eight objectives
- To achieve individual and collective spiritual development.
- To promote the teachings of the Catholic Church.
- To exemplify the Christian ideal in home and family life.
- To protect the sanctity of human life.
- To enhance the role of women in Church and society.
- To recognize the human dignity of all people everywhere.
- To uphold and defend Christian education and values in the modern world.
- To contribute to the understanding and growth of religious freedom, social justice, peace and harmony.
The work of our council.
In 2026, Holy Name CWL approved support for women in addiction recovery, Catholic education, our parish and Catholic missions. The council also approved a special contribution to AVENTA through its quilt raffle.
These allocations were approved April 14, 2026, and do not necessarily represent payments made. The $5,000 building loan fund entry specifies a $2,000 minimum, funds allowing. Read the approved giving list (PDF).
Become part of Holy Name CWL.
Membership is an opportunity to pray with other Catholic women, build friendships and share in the work of the parish. There is room for different levels of involvement. The annual fee includes The Canadian League magazine.
It is included in the Holy Name CWL brochure (PDF).
Indicate whether you are joining, renewing your membership or transferring from another council.
Leave it with your payment in the collection basket or at the parish office.
